BEST DRESSED: 2016 Met Gala

5. EMILY RATAJKOWSKI in prabal gurung

Although this dress may not scream Manus x Machina, Ratajkowski's dress is a sexy stunner. Her date to the Met Gala this year was none other than the designer himself, Mr. Gurung.

On point with this season's lingerie-inspired trend, this Gucci frock is a fun and playful option for the evening. The coordinating glittery beauty look sealed this dress as one of our favorites this year. Yet again, it seems that Alessandro Michele can do no wrong.

3. elle fanning in thakoon

Elle Fanning kept it simple and sleek with this Thakoon dress. The only hint that she is but 18 years old is her absolutely glowing complexion. This is a perfect example of less is more, including her sleek ponytail and minimalistic makeup.

2. claire danes in zac posen

Claire Danes simply stole the show in this unique gown crafted from fiber optics and organza, allowing the dress to illuminate like a modern day Cinderella. Not only was the look a genius way to incorporate the futuristic technological theme, Manus x Machina, it was also a surprise to see the dress light up and transform from a typical ball gown into a true showstopper.

1. lily-rose depp in chanel

As Karl Lagerfeld's most recent muse, it came as no surprise that Lily-Rose Depp showed up to the evening's events in Chanel. However, her look was our favorite of the evening and she also worked that red carpet like none other. The glamorous look was the perfect ensemble for Depp's Met Gala debut.

The pop of color in this trench is everything. A collab between Leandra Medine of Man Repeller and Veda (the brand most commonly known for their close-to-perfect leather jackets) this trench is the perfect piece to take me from winter into these rainy spring days. The classic trench is a great investment piece, but I love how this version has some unique updates like a longer hemline and pops of red silk. I love to pair it with my tan sweater dress and nude Timberlands for a monochromatic look that showcases the coat.

5. The Puffer: The puffer has often been known as the jacket you have to wear because it's cold, and not so often as the jacket you want to wear because it's stylish. This season, however, designers like Pucci, Stella McCartney, and Balenciaga put a new spin on these bulky jackets that lend a cool, street style element to any winter look.

4. The Goth Lip: A bold lip is a quick makeup trick that can take a look to the next level, perfect to update your work look for a night out. The cool girl lipstick that we spotted on the runway is a dark, gothic one. Shades of deep purple, and even true black, are edgy colors to sport for the perfect pout...if you dare.

3. '80s Moment: We've seen '90s trends coming back around a lot recently, but F/W'16 was surprisingly full of '80s inspired looks. Strong, structural shoulders, bright jumpsuits, fishnets, and metallics...who can blame designers for taking cues from the undeniably fun "more is more" era in fashion?

2. Pink Punch: Designers like Chanel, Public School, and Oscar de la Renta were all about the pretty in [bright] pink on the runway. Certainly not a color for the faint of heart, this trend can be worn in your accessories for a more pared down version of the trend, think a pink clutch or bold pair of shoes. The tone has been updated in these F/W'16 looks via unique silhouettes and high quality tailoring.

1. The Cold Shoulder: The off-the-shoulder looks were everywhere this season, and we absolutely love it! It's a new way to subtly bare some skin. There is something so seductive about an exposed collarbone. Whether it be a faux shoulder baring look like Mary Katrantzou's, or a truly décolleté-baring option like Tibi's, this is definitely our favorite trend of the season.

NYFW Street Style

This season, NYFW was brutally cold, but show-goers still brought their best looks to the streets. I was able to go to a few shows myself including Tibi (love) and Lacoste (surprise fave). Maybe next year I'll get the Yeezy Getting to be a part of the action and people watch was truly such an awesome experience. Like I mentioned before, the cold was pretty unbearable, and it even started snowing. However that actually made for some awesome street style snaps. Below, I put together some of my favorite street style looks from NYFW. Look out for my Paris street style post coming up, too! I will also give a full trend report once fashion month is over :)

Street Style: Valentine's Day Inspo

Most people have a love/hate relationship with Valentine's Day. But one thing I think we can all agree on is that there is some great fashion inspo for the holiday. Whether you're celebrating Valentine's Day, Galentine's Day, or completely boycotting, here are some of my favorite street style looks in lovely red and pink hues.

Stella McCartney Pre-Fall 2016

Pre-Fall 2016's biggest trend by a landslide was most definitely leopard...rawr. They say three's a trend, and leopard knocks that out of the park. But honestly, leopard seems to be the new neutral for this season, paired with prints and bold colors like blue and green. You can work leopard print into your wardrobe via anything from a coat to a scarf or even a pair of socks peeking out under trendy cropped pants. Everyone -- Stella McCartney, Alexander Wang, Coach, Rochas -- thought leopard was their freshest idea yet, and I most certainly agree. We even saw Spring 2016 Couture use leopard in collections from Alexandre Vaulthier and Ronald van der Kemp. Even though leopard turned out not to be the most unique trend considering how many designers incorporated it into their collections, each one did so in a completely different way and make me love leopard even more as I saw leopard looks at every turn.

Carven Pre-Fall 2016

Today's New York snowfall seemed like the perfect opportunity to post about one of Pre-Fall's coolest (hehe) trends, icy blue. Designers across the board were all about pastels, particularly this gorgeous shade of blue. It adds a pop of color but is not too harsh. It can be worked in to any part of your wardrobe from a chic topcoat to a simple clutch. Icy blue is a perfect color to take from winter into the spring months. Take a look below to see some of the best icy blue looks of Pre-Fall 2016 from designers including Gucci, Fausto Puglisi, Sacai, and Roberto Cavalli.

When I first saw this wall I got so excited because it was so cool and the color literally matched my lipstick perfectly. It's the little things, right? LOL...Anyway, I'm all about this look first and foremost because of the jeans. A good pair of denim can always make an outfit. My top is pretty simple but I am really into the whole cape trend, and of course black is always best. I just paired it with a long sleeved v-neck but it can be worn in warmer months with something sleeveless underneath as well. On the flip side, it looks really cool with a black turtleneck as well. Then, my boots from a Rachel Comey sample sale (score!) go with everything but aren't standard black. Sometimes it's good to switch things up once in a while.

Street Style: Shear Genius

I am kind of obsessed with this season's shearling trend. Everything from shearling peacoats to edgy motorcycle jackets lined with shearling are spotted on top street style stars. It is such a luxurious and warm way to do winter, yet somehow has that extra edge that a fur coat doesn't. Burberry, Vetements, Chloe, Stella McCartney, Acne...the list goes on. The designers delivered shearling and the fashion world responded with an emphatic, Yaaasssss. My favorite shearling jackets by far, though, are Coach's. (Coach has become my new fave since Stuart Vevers became creative director a few years ago...who woulda thought?) From patchwork peacoats to cozy duffle jackets, the shearling is truly to die for. Emilio Pucci Pre-Fall 2016

Emilio Pucci Pre-Fall 2016

Denim is and always has been the epitome of casual cool. For most of us, denim jeans are a go-to when we can't figure out what to wear. This season, designers from Gucci to Sacai to Givenchy are embracing this textile and making it their own. With unique shapes, like capes and high-waisted shorts, and embroidering in beautiful colors and imagery, it's pretty hard to beat this Pre-Fall denim. Gucci, with Alessandro Michele leading the way, is definitely a stand out for its Pre-Fall collection, with not only gorgeous designs but super chic styling and a unique aesthetic. And I, for one, was happy to see a little bit of denim in that perfectly eclectic mix.

Carven Pre-Fall 2016

So, somehow it's already almost February. But, the year 2016 still feels fresh and I'm so excited to do this year right. My main goals for this year are just simple things like trying to be healthy, keeping up with my blog, and learning as much as I can at my job. I'm excited to share this year with you and I am going to add a few more elements to the blog that I think will be fun.

I tried to go for a more "wintery" look in this post, but I pretty much failed because I was freezing my ass off during this shoot. I am in Prospect Park at The Boathouse, a gorgeous location for photos any time of year. I thought it would be perfect since it is close to where I live, but turns out it is a lot farther than I remembered in this weather. Anyway it was definitely #worthit. Let me know if you agree!!!
